Lough Derg offers a host of amenities and services for families and groups with sailing,water skiing, fishing, boat hire, kayaking and other water activities available. There are also plenty of award winning restaurants and traditional pubs in lakeside villages dotted around the lake. For golfers, there are two local courses and many more within 1 hours drive. People who like to take long country walks have plenty of routes to choose from on the door step and within a short drive there are marked forest trails to be explored.

There are plenty of other tourist sites further afield to visit for days out, not least the Cliffs of Moher on the Wild Atlantic Way, which is one of the longest coastal routes in the world.
